Wrexit

I was planning to pen a few sad words on the UK's triggering of Article 50 today, but find that Anthony Barnett has done so much more eloquently here.

Barnett's characterization of Brexit as "government of the old, by the old and for the old" is undoubtedly spot-on, given the voting patterns evident in last June's fateful referendum.  However, the most interesting part of this article is his evisceration of Theresa May and her "blatant power grab", which Barnett describes as "an attempt to restore a 17th century version of sovereignty that is bound to fail".

Well worth reading, and an interesting foretaste of the book on Brexit (and populism generally) that Barnett has in the works.
